Truthfully, though, the bar set for fitness professionals is pretty low: I’ve been a writer for major personal training exams since 2010, and I’m very familiar with the typical knowledge base and the stats involving traditional personal training strategies. Most of what I see are personal trainers relying on their own beliefs instead of the vast science of exercise programming. My programs are successful because they involve a deep level of motion analysis, and of the data points necessary for optimal exercise programming and best use of time.

Getting lean and strong is absolutely achievable at any age with the right exercise science protocols and nutrition. But, as a clinical expert in fitness physiology and the aging sciences, I’d be lying if I told you that those over fifty have the same general needs as those in their twenties. After thirty years of clinical research and monitoring people during exercise in labs, I can assure you that the devil is truly in the details. My customized exercise coaching is always devised to match a client’s current fitness levels, and to progress them from those points.

Those over 50 are more likely to have harsh muscle imbalances, compressed lumbar spines, tight or damaged tendons, excess bodyfat, dysfunctional knees, etc. But, while problems like these are more commonly seen in the fitness screenings of older adults, these are all correctable in your program with me, as we turn the clock back and get you looking and feeling your best.

Since 1994, my clients have accurately said that I’m relentlessly focused on form and exercise technique. But, there is far more to your program than healthy biomechanics: From nerve communication to muscle recruitment to normalizing hormone secretion, there can be a lot to getting you to the results you deserve. Going through the motions and counting reps and sets isn’t usually enough, because the science of exercise is a vast one that requires cautious progression. Most people who hire trainers do not meet their fitness goals because so many programmatic needs go unmet.

Can I be honest about what happens to most exercisers?

Most regular exercisers get some results, at first: They slowly move toward their goal in the initial months. But, by around the third month, most exercisers are seeing diminishing returns, reaching plateaus, and experiencing psychological burnout. Statistically speaking, most people do not accomplish what they set out to accomplish, due to a combination of poor exercise prescription, inadequate meal planning & lifestyle, and a decline in motivation.

With me as your coach, you’ll have the specifics that make the difference between the common fitness journey above and the progressive, weekly, ongoing successes that you deserve: You’ll have an optimal exercise prescription to train smarter and incorporate the right FITT principles for every session. You’ll have a certified, experienced life coach and performance coach guiding you through the mental stages of achieving your goals. Throughout each session, you’ll maximize productivity while minimizing risks.

A static list of exercises and weights is not going to get you the results that you deserve; a workout video or a “routine” to follow is not going to get you to look amazing.

What To Expect

  • Free Strategy Session and fitness screening takes place over Zoom using your laptop, phone or tablet. You can be at home, outdoors, or anywhere.
  • After submitting your online investment, Val contacts you for scheduling sessions
  • Val plans your initial fitness session to target your goals, and ships selected fitness equipment to your home
  • Meet with Val for each scheduled session, using the fitness equipment that was sent to you. New equipment will arrive regularly as your fitness improves.
  • Your program includes optional homework fitness workouts, meal planning & nutrition coaching, supplementation recommendations, sleep coaching, stretching as needed, health coaching for longevity, and lifestyle & mindset coaching to optimize your motivation.
